CHEM 1200
|
Preparation for College Chemistry A course designed to prepare students for freshman-level college chemistry. Chem 1200 is a course number specific to Weber State University. However, the concepts taught in Chem 1200 are intended to prepare students from all colleges/universities for freshman-level college chemistry. Students who typically enroll in Chem 1200 are those who (1) have not had High School chemistry. (2) are removed several years from a previous chemistry experience (3) were previously non-science majors and completed a general education chemistry course for non-science majors (typically Chem 101 or Chem 1010). General education chemistry courses for non-science majors are usually not desined to prepare students for freshman-level college chemistry. Therefore, it is recommended that students, who are majoring in science or engineering (including students in all pre-professional programs; I.e. pre-med, pre-dent, etc.) and feel unprepared to begin a freshman-level chemistry course, take Chem 1200 prior to enrolling in freshman level college chemistry program.
No chem. experience is required and no mathematics is required, but it is recommended that students have an understanding of basic algebra.
