Pat
Shaw, M.Ed., RHIA, FAHIMA
Pat Shaw currently serves
as an associate professor and
program coordinator for the Health
Information Management and
Technology programs in the
Department Health Administrative
Services. She has been on the
faculty of Weber State University
since 1991. She has also been in the
Health Information Management
profession for over 20 years,
working in both the traditional
healthcare setting and as a
nosologist for 3M Health Information
Systems.
While at the university, Shaw has
received the Dr. Ezekial R. Dumke
College of Health Professions
Teacher of the Year Award and the
Marriott Recognition Award for
Outstanding Service to the Dr.
Ezekial R. Dumke College of Health
Professions. She was
awarded the Distinguished Member
Award by the Utah Health Information
Management Association in 1991. In
2008, Shaw was the recipient of the
George and Beth Love innovative
teaching award.
Shaw has co-authored a textbook on
Performance Improvement in
Healthcare and several journal
articles. Her service to university
has included numerous committee
appointments at both the college and
university levels. In addition, she
has served on the American Health
Information Management Association’s
Board of Directors, the Council on Certification and the
Utah Health Information Management
Association at almost every
capacity.
