Beginning Photoshop: Digital Photo Editing Basics

Would you like to learn to do more in PhotoShop than get rid of red eye in a photograph? Would you like to remove someone from the picture entirely? Change color tone? Add some art? Combine different photos? Or clean up some blemishes? All this and much, much more is possible if you learn how to use Photoshop, and in this class you will begin this journey. We will learn the basic tools and principles you will need to know to do just about anything you'd like to do with digital pictures. Bring a thumb drive/disk to save your projects.

This two-session course is an introduction to the pinhole (lensless) photographic process. Participants will learn the fundamentals of photography by constructing a camera from common materials and exposing photographic paper for negatives to be contact printed into positives via darkroom processing. This is an all-ages workshop appropriate for anyone with an interest in the photographic medium: beginners, amateurs, artists, and photographic educators alike. No prior photographic knowledge is required. Materials students must bring: 7-inch tall metal or cardboard oatmeal can (Quaker Oats or the like), small can of flat black spray paint, 1 roll electrical tape.

In this course you will learn many of the basic principles of photography in general as you explore the world of digital photography. Please bring your digital camera as well as any accessories necessary for downloading images from your camera.
