1.  Find out if you're qualified

2. Submit an application

  • If you're new to Concurrent:
Submit your application to your Concurrent Enrollment site representative with your resume, syllabus (see below), and any other materials required (see qualifications). Your coordinator and district representative need to approve your application before it is sent to the Concurrent Enrollment office.

  • If you're renewing
You still need to submit an application to your Concurrent Enrollment coordinator for approval. You will probably not need to send in a new resume and syllabus if you're teaching the same classes. Check out the instructor qualifications to be sure.

  • Syllabus Requirements
We are now requiring a more complete syllabus with a standardized format for each requested concurrent class.

    The requirements are as follows:

    2. Required text materials and major equipment used by students
    3. Course overview (1-2 paragraphs that summarize content and competencies gained from course)
    4. Course objectives by weekly module titles (what general content/activity will be covered each week)
    5. Grading policy and rubric (what student work is graded and how are grades assigned)
    6. Demonstrated prerequisites for eligible students (classes or proficiencies that must be met to be eligible for registration, ie: English ACT requirement)
    7. Assignment titles and policy for submitting assignments
    8. Anticipated special projects (if appropriate, describe project, objectives met and grading policy)
    9. Exam schedule and make-up policy (if appropriate)

What if I'm not approved?

If you are not approved to teach a course for Concurrent Enrollment, you have the right to seek approval at another Utah institution. You will need a "Right of First Refusal" (an annual renewal) to do this. You can request a Right of First Refusal through your site representative.

Right of First Refusals are given upon request on an individual basis only (for example, if you were not approved to teach a math course, only YOU will be given the Right of First Refusal upon request, not each teacher in your department).

What district do I have to work in to teach a WSU Concurrent Enrollment class?

Weber State University serves as the primary service institution for Davis, Morgan, Ogden City, and Weber county school districts.

If you teach outside of these 3 counties, you must first apply to your local public college/university. If you are not approved you can request a Right of First Refusal and then submit your request to Weber State University's Concurrent Enrollment program.
