Fee for Service paid to sponsoring college
acknowledging participating department
Following the WSU Provost and College Deans
agreement for Fee for Service, the WSU
Concurrent Enrollment Office calculates a fee for
service allocation for each participating
academic department based on the previous year’s
level of involvement and sends that fee to the
appropriate dean in early Fall. It is the
responsibility of the department to negotiate with
its dean how access can be made to that fee for
service amount. Our intention is that it will help
defray the costs to the department for its level
of involvement with the program.
- The Department
will be paid $100 for each Concurrent Enrollment
course section
Ex. 6 Sections=$600
Campus partner will:
Assess the concurrent status of a requesting instructor and course in a timely manner
Provide adequate assistance to assure that teachers understand department expectations for quality standards
Responsibility required by USHE, USOE and NACEP accreditation
- You are paid a Pro-rated amount per number of visitations made to the schools to see the adjunct instructors
Campus partner will: Complete a visit to each approved teacher/class and submit the visitation form to the concurrent office at end of school year
Level 1 @ $100-150 for 1-10 visits (1-5 =$100 / 6-10=$150)
Level 2 @ $200-300 for 11-20 visits (11-13=$200 / 14-16=$250 / 17-20=$300)
Level 3 @ $350-450 for 21-40 visits (21-27=$350 / 28-34=$400 / 35-40=$450)
Volume levels are based on approved sections rather than repeat visits
Responsibility required by USHE, USOE and NACEP accreditation
- You are paid $500 total for any number of individual trainings, or $1000 for co-facilitate a CE professional development training
Campus partner will:
Serve as an active co-host for an annual concurrent professional development session and offer pertinent instructional strategies, resources and assistance
Amount varies depending on number of department-approved teachers.
Responsibility required by USHE, USOE and NACEP accreditation
- After the fees are generated, you will receive an additional amount which is based upon a percentage of remaining FFS monies. This percentage is apportioned according to the % of concurrent SCHs generated by each WSU department partner.
The percentage of total earned concurrent student credit hours generated from classes sponsored by the department is used to calculate an additional allocation from the remaining fee for service budget
i.e., if the fee for service balance is $110,000 and the department generates 5 % of the total SCHs earned by all concurrent students, than $5500 is allocated in addition to the number of sections allocation (see above).
Background and Rationale
Concurrent Enrollment is a state-funded
educational program that receives general policy
direction from the Board of Regents as well as the
Utah State Office of Education. This program is
funded to cover minimum expenses incurred by the
educational partners. Participation by WSU results
in our receiving $17/SCH as a recording fee. WSU
receives no FTEs in concurrent classes taught by
approved high school adjunct faculty partners.
On-line or EdNet deliveries of concurrent classes
will generate FTEs for WSU. Both delivery models are
available to interested departments.
The WSU Concurrent Enrollment office receives and
manages the generated revenue on behalf of its
administrative role with this program. During the
2003-2004 school year, over 4,000 individual
students totaled 7,234 registrations that generated
19,968 student credit hours (SCHs) in the 550 class
sections that were approved by the 25 participating
WSU academic departments and taught by the 262 high
school teachers who represented 35 high schools.
Close collaboration between the WSU Concurrent
Enrollment office, the WSU participating academic
departments and the partnering educational sites is
necessary to the success of this program. Credit
earned for concurrent participation must reflect
student experience and performance standards
equivalent to those found on the WSU campus.
Strategies for assuring that these standards are in
fact realized at the participating sites must be
implemented and can best be undertaken by
individuals who represent the perspective of each
participating academic department. |
