The Accompanying Persons Program has a variety of activities scheduled
to show Weber State University, Ogden city, and the surrounding areas.
All breakfasts and dinners (evening meal) will be with the ISTE
delegates. Lunches will be in various locations according to the travel.

Early return to join delegates for a trip to
Salt Lake City (SLC)
Trip to SLC for dinner and to hear the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Friday, 5 June—Heber (host of cross-country skiing events during 2002
Winter Olympics) and
Thanksgiving Point
Riding the Heber Creeper steam-powered train
down Provo Canyon
Visiting Thanksgiving Point for a variety of
experiences including the Gardens, the Art Barn to create
your own mouth-blown glass flower, seeing U.S. farm animals,
exploring the Dinosaur Museum, and shopping for unique Utah
gifts

Thanksgiving Point
Saturday, 6 June—Park City and Salt Lake City with the ISTE Delegates
Park City—an old silver mining town which
hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics, is now the home to the
Sundance Film Festival and a tourist resort
Visit Olympic village, downtown shopping,
resort activities
Salt Lake City—the capital of the state of
Utah
Visit “This is the Place” State Park and
the International Peace Gardens
Optional visits to Temple Square/LDS
Conference Center (international headquarters of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)
Shopping at Gateway outdoor mall
Dinner hosted by Ralph Becker, mayor of
Salt Lake City
Sunday, 7 June—The Great Salt Lake
Cruise on the Great Salt Lake
Bus and walking tour of Antelope Island with
a park naturalist including the Visitors’ Center, Buffalo
Point, and walk on the beach
Tour of Garr Ranch
Barbeque lunch at Garr Ranch (buffalo
burgers are the specialty, but other foods will be
available)
Wildlife Safari – tour of otherwise
inaccessible parts of the Island in a WWII amphibious
vehicle; provides up close access to buffalo, antelope and
other wildlife
Monday, 8 June—Ogden and the Nature Center
Ogden Nature Center and Aviary
Lunch at Roosters—a local, micro-brewery and
great restaurant
