Local and Online Course Information

The Weber State University local and online ASQ exam-preparation courses are “refresher courses” designed for quality professionals to review and understand the concepts and principles of each course and prepare for certification exams. Participants should have basic working knowledge and experience in the area of certification (sitting for exams require specific years of experience. Please see course descriptions below and ASQ for requirements).

Successfully passing a course does not guarantee students will be successful on ASQ certification exams. Participants are strongly advised to review and study additional textbooks and resources. Many resources are available through ASQ.

Certified Quality Engineer
(Advanced Quality Engineering - MFET 3560, 2 semester hours)

This course is structured for the production professional responsible for developing the specific process needed to ensure a quality product. The course is heavily weighted in statistics. This course helps prepare the student for the Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Examination. Requires at least eight years of work experience in one or more areas of the body of knowledge including at least three years in decision-making technical, professional or management position.


Certified Quality Technician
(Basics of Quality Engineering – MFET 2550, 2 semester hours)

This course approaches quality from the perspective of the production technician using applied statistics, total quality concepts, inspection techniques and methods and nonconforming material control, sampling principles used in production management and industry standards. Course helps prepare the student for the Certified Quality Technician (CQT) examination. Requires at least four years of work experience in one or more areas of the body of knowledge.
