MODULE 1 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS OFFICER (SFO) AND BASIC CORRECTION OFFICER (BCO)

Career Opportunities

Positions requiring the Special Functions Officer/Basic Correction Officer training include, but are not limited to: constables, bailiffs, and auxiliary officers.  Positions requiring BCO: state prison officers and county jail officers.

Credit

CJ 1070, 3 semester hours
Upon registration cadets may apply for credit at a cost of $30.  Successful completion of Module 1 is required before credit can be applied.

MODULE 2 LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (LEO)

Career Opportunities

Positions requiring LEO training include, but are not limited to: police officers, reserve officers, sheriff's deputies, Utah Highway Patrol officers, and Wildlife Resource Conservation officers.

When hiring, most law enforcement agencies give preference to those who have qualified for certification. If fact, many agencies will not accept applications for a position until the applicant is certifiable.

Pre-requisite

To be eligible to register for the LEO, the applicant must have successfully completed all the requirements of the SFO.

Credit

  • CJ 1080, 3 semester hours
  • PE 1070, 1 semester hour
  • PE 1140, 1 semester hour
Upon registration cadets may apply for 5 total semester hours at a cost of $30 for Criminal Justice and $20 for PE.  Successful completion of Module 1 is required before credit can be applied.
