This interdisciplinary Join us for two weeks in Russia as we visit health clinics, hospitals, an HIV Clinic, a midwifery college and other locales related to health sciences. We’ll also have time enough to visit some of the great sites in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
| Course Description: | Students will examine the Russian educational system for healthcare professionals and the Russian healthcare system. We will visit institutions where health professionals receive their education and where they work.
The courses are Nursing DV4000 (3 credits) and 4001 (3 credits). A rubric grading system will be used if the student takes the course for credit, and a letter grade will be given. Culture, healthcare and clinical experiences in Russia will provide an exploration of health and health care. This exploration will include cultural, political, educational perspectives in addition to health care issues. Prior to traveling, a series of workshops/informational readings will prepare the student for the clinical health care experiences, history, and cultural exploration. Students will be required to keep daily journals. Debriefing/reporting meetings will be held with faculty and study participants. Following the program, students will share experiences and thoughts on a internet discussion group. Students will participate in college-wide presentations. Students will conduct a written evaluation of the program. Students will write an experiential paper summarizing the pertinent experience of the study abroad course. This assignment will allow the student to express personal goal achievements and feedback on encouraging others to have this opportunity. |

She has taught national and international healthcare and has given presentations on national and international healthcare. She has visited Russian several times. Tina Kraaima, MSN, RN, Assistant Professor of Nursing. Has visited Russia and will assist in the program. |
OVERALL PROGRAM DETAILS
| Itinerary/Calendar: | Tour to include roundtrip international airfare, entry visa, all domestic air and ground transportation, twelve nights lodging at 3 to 5 star or first class hotels, escorted tours and sightseeing with admissions and English speaking tour guides in each city, three meals per day, cultural entertainment, acrobatic show in Shanghai and river cruise on the Haungpu River.
