ACADEMIC PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
| Course Objectives: | Obtain a basic overview of the prehistory, history and cultures of Greece and Turkey, while at the same time learning to operate successfully and simultaneously to be observant within a culture different from their own. All students will enroll in two of the following three courses: ANTH 2950, 4950, 4830 to be chosen in consultation with trip faculty. |
| Assignments: | Journal entries, note-taking and analysis determined by course for which students enroll. |
| Non-academic Activities: | Free time for personal travel, shopping, and some evening activities. |

| Housing and food arrangements: | Most accommodations will be in clean and safe hotels. Occupancy may vary from double, triple, to quad. Breakfasts are included at most hotels. Students are on their own for lunch and dinner. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Selection criteria: | Preference given to anthropology students, then all WSU students and faculty. Additional openings may be filled with community members. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Risk Management: | Participants should always travel in groups, avoid unlighted areas, etc. Travelers are encouraged to carry limited cash, only one credit card, and a copy of their passport. Always secure them in a hard-to-reach place. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Emergency Management: | Telephone communication will be maintained. Students will have the telephone number of each place we will be staying and there will be a central person in the U.S. who will coordinate messages. Emergency contact through continuing Education will be Craig LaRocco at (801) 626-8740. There are nearby hospital and medical clinics in the locations we’ll visit. We will contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate should the need arise. |
