The national attention focused on America's prisons and jails has increased student involvement in the area of corrections.  In addition, the fear of crime and the strategies designed to prevent criminal behavior have also contributed to increased student interest in this area of concentration.  Students involved in this area of study concentrate their course work in corrections.  From parole and probation officers to correctional officers working in a penitentiary, students graduating from Weber State University with a concentration in corrections have been actively recruited by employers needing qualified applicants.  This area of concentration covers both the theory and practice of corrections.
