BFA
VISUAL ARTS WSU
BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS

The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree requires a minimum 72 hours of visual arts courses and requires no minor. The BFA degree is unique to the Department of Visual Arts at WSU. It too requires the basic core and general education courses; however, additional visual arts courses are required in lieu of the science requirements in the BS or the foreign language requirement in the BA.

The BFA program is selective and rigorous: students need to apply for admission to the program through submission of a portfolio. The portfolio is reviewed by all full time faculty. Portfolios are reviewed twice a year and students who are not admitted may reapply.

All students who wish to work as art professionals, whether in the fine arts or design, should pursue the BFA degree.

BFA Application & Portfolio Review
BFA portfolios are reviewed about midway through the semester in both fall and spring. Check in the main office for details and an application form.
