The Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, is pleased to announce the exhibition, Book Arts, featuring the work of invited national book artists. With an emphasis on the book as an art object, this exhibition, presented in the Project Gallery, includes twelve book artists from around the country, whose works range in size and scope, including miniatures, traditional book forms, installation, and sculptural approaches to the book.
The Project Gallery is adjacent to the Dee Shaw Gallery in the Department of Visual Arts’ Kimball Visual Arts Building. The exhibition has been curated by Susan Makov, Professor of Art, Weber State University. Participating artists include: Pam Barrios, Brian D. Cohen (Bridge Press), Sue Cotter (Woodhenge Press), Laura Davidson, Marie Dern (Jungle Garden Press), Crispin and Jan Elsted (Barbarian Press), Art Hazelwood, Peter Koch (Peter Koch Printers), Leonard Seastone (Tideline Press), Judith Serebrin, Nancy Steele-Makasci, and K Stevenson.
This exhibition is made possible through funds from Weber County RAMP. The exhibition runs August 24 – September 26, 2009. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 11-5 p.m. and Saturday 12-5 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
