We the faculty in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures are enthusiastic and involved teachers. We are open-minded and eager to absorb new ideas. We are also cooperative and ready to work together as a group, always looking forward to the future and the challenges it brings.

We are service-oriented, putting the needs of our students first and foremost. We all have a strong commitment and interest in improving undergraduate education, in outreach to junior and high school programs, and in building on our already strong tradition of foreign language teaching.

We are all very proud of our proficiency-based program which is student-centered and not teacher-dominated. We pride ourselves in using and encouraging active learning techniques and strategies where the students are able to use the languages they are learning in real-life, meaningful contexts.
