"Welcome!  Are you interested in a major or minor in the Department of Health Promotion and Human Performance?"  Check out the Welcome Page for New Students.

General Information For All Students

In the Department of Health Promotion and Human Performance, expect a friendly educational environment with student leadership involvement and a student-oriented advising program.  The faculty and coordinator of advisement are strongly committed to assisting each student in a planned advisement program that is most effective.  We strive for student satisfaction, hoping that students understand that the responsibility of successful completion of their programs lies in their hands.

Selecting a faculty advisor is paramount to your success as well.  Who best would you want a sterling letter of recommendation from than a faculty advisor in your major area.  Take advantage of letting your advisor know your goals, aspirations, and accomplishments.  Meet with your advisor at least once a semester,  preferably before registration. Review your progress, grades, employment, community service, internships and utilize their professional knowledge to assist you in making good decisions.  The faculty advisor should know your competencies, qualifications, and personality better than an employer would.

ADMISSION:
Contact the Admission's Office at WSU.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
WSU requires all students to take certain core and general education requirements.  These courses are designed to give a breadth of knowledge that all educated individuals, regardless of their specialization, should possess.  Please review these requirements.  Knowing your major and minor early in your education experience will assist you in making better choices for your general education requirements.

TRANSFER CREDIT:
Students wishing to count courses taken at another school should first transfer credits to WSU and then schedule a faculty advisor appointment through the HPHP Advisement Coordinator to see if the course is equivalent to the course needed on the program of study for their major or minor.

Students transferring with an associate's degree from a school in Utah will satisfy the general education requirements.  Others may contact an advisor at recruit1@weber.edu about their specific case.
