University and College Tier
What is the difference between university and college tier?
When students apply for admission to WSU they are assigned to a tier level on the basis of the ACT scores. These tiers are University Tier and College Tier.
University Tier
Students admitted to this
tier have minimum scores of 17 ACT English AND 23 on the ACT mathematics.
SAT and WSU Compass scores can be use for placement into this tier.
Students admitted to this tier are allowed to register for:
1.
Any WSU course for which they have successfully completed the prerequisites.
2.
Any WSU courses which do not require separate program admission.
College Tier
Students admitted to this tier have scores of 16 and below on the ACT
English and/or 22 and below on the ACT mathematics sections.
**Note:
Students admitted to the University without standardized test scores are
automatically place in the College Tier.
Students
admitted to this tier are allowed to register for:
1.
Quantitative
Literacy
Completion
of one of the following mathematics courses with a grade of C or better:
Math QL 1030, QL 1040, QL 1050, or QL 1080 or any mathematics course with either
Math QL 1050 or Math QL 1080 as a prerequisite.
2. Composition
a.
Completion of English 1010 with a grade of C or better, AND
b. Completion of English 2010 with a grade of C or better.
3. Cumulative Grade Point Average
Successful completion of a minimum of 20 semester hours of course with a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or better.
