Here's a list of L.A.S. courses for Spring 2006

All grades must be of "C" or better ("C-" is not acceptable).

Courses must be taken from at least THREE departments.

Courses taken as part of a student's major will not count towards the minor.

A minimum of 15 semester-hours are required at the upper-division level.

16 semester-hours of lower division credit, or the equivalent, are a prerequisite for the minor.

The Latin American Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary program offered through a number of cooperating departments including the following:

Students must have completed two years of Spanish or Portuguese (1010, 1020, 2010 and 2020) or the equivalent before they may begin the minor. A minimum of 15 semester-hours (20 quarter-hours) must be taken from at least three departments at the upper division level (courses numbered 3000 or above). A list of qualifying courses follows, but should other courses relating specifically to Latin America, either of an experimental or of a permanent nature, be added to the curriculum, these courses will be accepted as part of the Latin American Studies Minor Program. Should such courses be part of an academic area not listed above, the new academic area will be added to those presently constituting the Latin American Studies Minor.

Students must meet with the coordinator of Latin American Studies before they can declare it as a minor.
