WSU is a Family Affair for New V.P.

OGDEN, Utah – When Norman Tarbox, Jr. accepted the offer to become the new vice president of administrative services at Weber State University, it was akin to a family reunion.
His wife Maurie is pursuing a degree in musical performance at WSU, but that’s not Tarbox’s only connection to the university.
His four children regularly perform in WSU’s Utah Musical Theater.
So when Dad assumes his new role in May, his family will be more than happy to show him around campus.
Tarbox comes to WSU from the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), where he was associate commissioner for finance and facilities. As the CFO for the Utah State Board of Regents, he’s handled everything from budgeting to contract negotiation to procurement.
Tarbox says the opportunity to join WSU is very appealing. He’s excited about the job’s new challenges -- like the campus master planning process the university is undertaking.
Tarbox succeeds Allen Simkins, vice president for 15 years. As he announced last fall, Simkins will return to teaching business.
