WSU Commencement Ceremonies Planned May 9-10 Wednesday, May 01, 2002
OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University officials are expecting the Class of 2002 to total more than 3,000 graduates. More than 2,000 candidates for graduation this spring will be honored May 9-10 during WSU's 119th commencement. An additional 916 members of the Class of 2002 received their degrees in conjunction with the university's winter commencement last December.
The main ceremony will be held May 9 in the Dee Events Center. An academic processional will begin at 5:40 p.m., followed by the formal program at 6 p.m. Author and entrepreneur Paul G. Hawken will deliver the keynote address and will be awarded an honorary degree. Other honorary degree recipients are: Kem C. Gardner, president of The Boyer Company; Barry D. Mower, founder and president of Lifetime Products; and Jay B. Taggart, former superintendent of Morgan and Weber County School Districts.
Putting Students Through College, a short program where graduates honor parents, spouses and friends who supported them, will precede the commencement at 3:30 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Ballroom.
WSU's business school, six academic colleges and degree-granting programs will hold individual convocations May 10 at various campus locations. Refer to attached schedule for exact times and locations.
