PETITIONS
Documentation:
For requests pertaining to medical
circumstances, military obligations, or deaths in the immediate
family, documentation must be provided to support every claim.
Please Note:
Circumstances such as failing a
course, minor illnesses, work conflicts, car trouble, computer
problems, marriage, pregnancy, etc., are NOT generally considered
acceptable grounds for modification of the academic record.
Waivers will not be granted solely to "cosmetically enhance" a student's
record.
For instructor disputes, please initially contact the
department directly.
- Late Withdrawal Requests
Please be aware that students are
responsible for paying for Ws. Students retroactively seeking Ws
(official withdrawals) after the official deadline has passed or after a
semester has ended must obtain written permission from the professor(s).
Please be advised that the ultimate discretion lies with the department,
and the "Exception to University Policy" committee will not consider such
requests without written faculty consent. This documentation will need to
accompany any other appropriate documentation, such as medical records, etc.
If attendance is an issue, then that should also be documented.
- Reverse Repeat Requests
Policy dictates that "a course will appear
on the transcript each time it is completed, but it will be counted only
once in total hours and only the most recent letter grade received will be
used to calculate the GPA" (pg 35, 2007-2008 WSU Catalog). Students seeking
reverse repeats should include why they feel an exception to this policy is
justified.
