Adrienne M. Gillespie is a Counselor
for Services for Women Students (SWS)
as well as an Advisor for As Safe As
Possible (ASAP). She began working
at SWS in February of 2005.
Adrienne earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Political Science
with minors in Ethnic Studies and
Spanish in 1993 from the University
of Utah. While there, she studied
abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico and
completed an internship at the
United States Supreme Court.
Adrienne received numerous
scholarships and awards for her
academic performance and leadership
abilities. Adrienne next attended
the University of Denver College of
Law as a Chancellor Scholar, leaving
in 1995 to return to the University
of Utah where she completed a second
Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s
Studies in 1996. Adrienne then
attended Minnesota State University,
Mankato where she completed a Master
of Science in Women’s Studies in
1997. Following this program of
study, Adrienne completed a Master
of Arts degree in Political Science
at Rutgers, the State University of
New Jersey in 2001 where she also
completed the course work for her
doctorate.
Adrienne has worked in a variety
of government, higher education and
non-profit capacities including as
the Director of the Center for Youth
Policy and Programs for the State of
New Jersey; Staff Associate in the
New Jersey Department of State,
Political Science Instructor at
Rutgers; Women’s Studies Instructor
at Minnesota State University;
graduate associate and research
associate at Rutgers; coordinator
for the Mankato League of Women
Voters; and as an administrative
assistant at the Utah Governor’s
Commission for Women and Families
among other positions.
Adrienne is a world traveler that
enjoys learning about other cultures
and traditions. Whenever possible,
she loves to quilt, read, write,
listen to music and plan exotic
vacations.
