COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS

National ACT (American College Test) - The ACT test is required of all Freshman students for entrance into WSU. It consists of tests in English, Math, Social Studies, Reading and Science Reasoning. It also includes an interest inventory and a student profile section to obtain information for counseling and to help students with their educational plans. A booklet containing a sample test is available in the Student Services Testing Center. Study books are available in most bookstores and libraries. The test is offered five times each year at WSU and at many other colleges and high schools. Registration packets are available at high schools and at the Student Services Testing Center and the Davis Testing Center. You may also register online at the ACT WEBSITE. Test fee and other details are available in the registration packets. The test will be given in the Social Science Building at 8:00 a.m. Following, is a list of the test dates and the registration deadlines for the 2000-2001 year:

Residual ACT Test - The Residual ACT test is the same as the National ACT and is particularly for students who did not take the ACT on one of the national test dates but need ACT scores to meet an upcoming deadline for enrollment into WSU. This test is limited to students who will be attending WSU as score reports cannot be sent to any other college or university. To register for the residual ACT, students must pay the $35.00 fee at the Student Services Testing Center before the test date. On-site registration is also permitted. The fee is $40.00. SAT I and SAT II Tests - The SAT tests are entrance exams that are used at many colleges and universities. Students applying to WSU who have not taken an entrance exam should take the ACT. However, SAT scores are accepted at WSU. The SAT I is a three-hour test, primarily multiple-choice, that measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities. The SAT II Subject Tests are one-hour, primarily multiple-choice tests in specific subjects. At most schools, only the SAT I is required. The SAT II is sometimes required or recommended for placement purposes or for admission into specific programs. Registration packets are available in the Student Services Testing Center and the Davis Testing Center. Booklets with sample SAT tests and fee schedule are available in both centers. The tests will be given in the Social Science Building, Room 119 at 8:30 a.m. Upcoming test dates are listed below:
