This Year’s Conference

The Writing Center at Weber State University is excited to announce
the fourteenth annual Rocky Mountain Peer Tutoring Conference.  We
will hold the conference on March 2-3, 2007, at the Weber State
                    University campus in Ogden, Utah.

Theme
The theme for the conference is

We hope this theme will provoke ideas about writing center experiences, and we invite the exploration of related ideas in conference presentations.
PLACE—
Consider the writing center’s place on the campus as well as its place in the campus writing discourse.
SPACE—
Consider spaces around writing—head space, word space, physical space.  How do tutors negotiate session space with students?
COMMUNITY—
How does the writing center contribute to student retention, to a sense of belonging and community for students and/or for tutors themselves?

Proposals
Proposals for the conference will be accepted through January 26, 2007.  Please complete the registration and proposal forms and include them with the proposal submission.  The registration and proposal forms, as well as proposal guidelines, are online at www.weber.edu/writingcenter/rmptc.htm.  Copies of these forms will also come in the mail to directors throughout the region.

Presentations
Experienced tutors from across the country are invited to present at this year’s conference.  We will include poster presentations as well as oral presentations exploring a variety of writing and tutor related concepts.  We look forward to hearing from you.
