WILDLIFE CONSERVATION IN CHINA

 

 

 

Rounded Rectangle: Day 1
Depart SLC. Arrive in Beijing. Transfer to hotel. Dinner and evening on your own.
Day 2
Beijing. Visit Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven.
Day 3
Beijing. Visit Great Wall. Summer Palace. Shaolin Kung Fu show in evening.
Day 4
Foping Natural Reserve. Fly to Xian. Hike mountain ridge to Sanguanmiao, the monitoring station of Foping Natural Reserve.
Day 5
Foping Natural Reserve. Hike into giant panda habitat.
Day 6
Foping Natural Reserve. Hike to takin and golden monkey habitat.
Day 7
Foping Natural Reserve.
Day 8
Xian. Visit Terracotta Warriors, and nearby museums.
Day 9
Xian/Wolong Nature Reserve. Visit Han Emperor’s Tomb, Yangling Museum. Fly to Changdu to transfer to Wolong Nature Reserve.
Day 10
Wolong Nature Reserve. Meet with panda experts. Visit Panda Breeding Center and Panda Museum. Trek in bamboo forest.
Day 11
Wolong Nature Reserve.
Day 12
Sanxingui/Shanghai. Sanxindui Museum. Evening in Shanghai.
Day 13
Shanghai. Shanghai Museum. Evening acrobatic show.
Day 14
Depart. Transfer to the Pudong International Airport and take flight to your next destination.
 
The Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the Terracotta Warriors are but a few of the stops we'll make along the way as we delve into wildlife conservation efforts in China. Join Weber State University’s Zoology Chair Sam Zeveloff and wildlife expert Walt Prothero as they lead this trip
to some of the most fascinating nature reserves in the Far East with China Adventure Travel.

June 3 – June 16, 2008

 Participants will gain an understanding of various cultural
and natural history issues in China.  They will learn a
considerable amount about Chinese nature reserves and
other protected areas.  They will also gain an appreciation
for the role of captive propagation in species preservation
programs.
