Greetings! The
faculty and staff of
the Department of
Zoology are eager to
assist you to make
your academic
experience a
successful one.
Zoology students at
Weber State become
well acquainted with
their professors
through close contact
in classes, advising,
and collaboration on
research projects. The
faculty prides itself
on excellence in
teaching.
Our majors pursue
several tracks, with a
large proportion of
them involved in
preprofessional
training. We have an
excellent record in
placing students in
the nation's finest
medical, dental,
veterinary, and
related schools.
Indeed, the
university's advisors
for most of these
programs are housed in
the Department of
Zoology.
We offer excellent
programs in genetics,
ecology, physiology,
and animal behavior.
Our students are
encouraged to
participate in and
develop research
projects. We have
outstanding
facilities, such as
the DNA laboratory.
Graduates from the
department enter
fields as diverse as
anatomy and wildlife
management. We also
have special programs
to train secondary
school biology
teachers. Our students
frequently enter
graduate school to
specialize further in
zoology.
The information in
this homepage should
help you become more
knowledgeable about
our programs. Consult
it frequently as you
determine which
courses to take each
semester. The faculty
welcome visits from
students seeking
advice. Students
should establish close
contact with a
specific faculty
member for their
advising. Those close
to graduating must see
the department chair
during the fall
semester of their
senior year. At that
time, the final
details concerning
your degree are
reviewed.
We look forward to
getting to know you!
