  • d. Two methods by which a virus may be released from a host cell.

4. Describe the following components of viral hepatitis:

  • a. target organ/cells
  • b. modes of acquiring type A, B and C
  • c. at-risk populations, behaviors contributing to acquiring viral hepatitis
  • d. general symptoms
  • e. vaccinations if available

5. Define the following terms:

6. Describe the roles of the following healthcare practitioners in the diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis.

7. Discuss the options for prevention of A, B and C viral hepatitis.

9. Define the tests measured in a hepatic (liver) panel and how each test relates to liver function and to the diagnosis of viral hepatitis: ALT, ALP, AST, bilirubin, and albumin and total protein.

11. Discuss the diagnostic screening methods for Hepatitis to include antigen and antibody screening methods.

  • a. Discuss the significance of a positive antigen hepatitis screen.
  • b. Discuss the significance of a positive antibody hepatitis screen.  Define the two conditions that would lead to a positive antibody hepatitis screen.

12. Define the precautions health care personnel must use to protect themselves, and prevent the spread of viral hepatitis. Review the essentials of universal precautions (link on online course) and patient confidentiality since these are applicable to all health care professionals.
