Write A Case Study

1. Write a 2-3 page case study. Decide on an interesting disease you would like to find more about. Search the internet and 2-3 refereed journals or books.

2. Look for information regarding symptoms of the disease. Find a minimum of 3 specific symptoms. Write the first paragraph of your case study explaining the patient's symptoms.

3. Look for diagnostic tests that the physician would order based on the patient's symptoms. Write a paragraph describing a minimum of two diagnostic tests. You do not need to include detailed results.

4. Explain the disease process. What is occurring compared to normal body physiology?

5. List available treatments and write a paragraph describing the treatment your patient will receive. Discuss all possible treatment options.

6. What is the likely prognosis of your patient? Is there an available cure? Is this a chronic debilitating disease? Write a paragraph describing the fate of your patient.

7. Based on your knowledge of health professionals, and the health professional web sites included with the case studies, decide which would be involved with your patient. A minimum of 4 health professionals should be included. Write a paragraph describing each health professional's role. This paragraph may be supplemental to your case study or may be included as a part of the actual case.

8. Conclude your case study with a paragraph summarizing the case. This summary should clearly explain how the symptoms relate to the disease, the role of each health professional, what key diagnostic testing results confirm the disease, treatment options and the prognosis.

8. Include a minimum of 5 references. References should include a minimum of 3 reputable internet web sites and 2 refereed journals or texts. You may also use your text as a reference

9. Case studies should be free of spelling and grammatical errors.
