Department of Teacher Education Policy Manual Last update:

Section 2.1 | Curriculum, policy, and procedures related to the admissions, preparation, program design, and recommendation for teacher licensure rests with the faculty of the Department of Teacher Education. |
Section 2.2 | The Department chairperson is responsible for providing leadership and working with Teacher Education faculty [PPM 1-18]. In accord with Weber State University Policy, the Department chairperson is appointed by the dean of the Moyes College of Education with input from Teacher Education faculty. The chairperson will be peer reviewed by faculty and staff every three years and has responsibility to appoint faculty and staff to positions related to curriculum and committee assignments. |
Section 2.3 | The Department chairperson will appoint a faculty member with superior leadership skills to serve as Department Curriculum Director. Whenever possible, the Department Curriculum Director will receive six semester hours of administrative release. The term for Department Curriculum Director is not established. Upon the selection of a new Department chairperson, the Curriculum Director appointment becomes open. |
Section 2.4 | The Master's of Education (MEDUC) program is housed within the Department of Teacher Education. Teacher Education Faculty will elect a Program Director every three years with the option for continued appointment. The Program Director will be peer reviewed by fculty and staff every three years. |
Section 2.5 | Whenever possible, the Master's of Education Program Director will receive six semester hours of administrative release. The Director will coordinate MEDUC policy and procedures and will provide Teacher Education faculty with summary reports. |
Section 2.6 | A professional staff person or faculty member will be appointed as Coordinator of Advisement. This corrdinator will work directly with faculty and the Department chairperson to insure quality program and licensure advisement. |
Section 2.7 | A professional staff person or faculty member will be appointed as Coordinator of Student Teaching and Field Experiences. This corrdinator will work directly with faculty and the Department chairperson to insure quality field experience and student teaching placements and supervision. |
