Section 5.1 Admissions to Teacher Education Licensure programs involve a selective application process. All individuals interested in being recommended by Weber State University for Utah teaching licenses must apply and be provisionally admitted into a specific licensure program.
Section 5.2 The Teacher Education Admissions/Retention Committee is authorized by Department faculty to define, advise, and administer admissions policy and procedures.
Section 5.3 All provisionally admitted candidates must submit, pass, and provide verifcation of a fingerprint/background check prior to Level 1 coursework and field experiences congurent with Utah State Office of Education policy.
Section 5.4 Candidates are provisionally admitted to a specific licensure program. This provisional admission is valid for a five year period. After five years have lapsed, candidates must reapply for provisional admission status.
Section 5.5 Candidates will be fully admitted to Teacher Education Programs at the beginning of their student teaching semester provided they have successfully completed all required course work, testing, and field experiences.
Section 5.6 The Admission/Retention Committee is authorized to monitor candidate progress and is charged with uphold high professional standards. The A/R Committee may raise concerns about a candidates work, professionalism, dispositions, etc and hold hearings to resolve concerns. The A/R committee may, with cause, remove a candidate's admission or provisional admission status.
Section 5.7

The Department of Teacher Education chairperson works with the Admissions/Retention Committe in an ex-officio capacity. The chairperson is charged with insuring Departmental policy is followed and that student rights (including equity and due process) are upheld and protected.
